DIY Pink Box make-up toolbox

Hello Everybody,

I'm sure you all know exactly what I'm talking about when I mention the Pink Box toolbox for make-up.  If not, allow me to introduce to you this beautiful piece of HOT PINK metal that has a lot of people in awe, myself included.

See what I mean?  When I saw this on Pinterest for the first time, I gasped, pinned it IMMEDIATELY, and kept going back and staring at if for weeks on end.  After a while, I googled the box and was in complete and utter shock when I saw the price tag attached to this thing.  Now, I knew it was going to be a bit pricey but I had no idea it was going to be over $500 dollars.  After seeing that, it was safe to say I was pretty sad.  I continued to look at the photo and after finally showing my husband what I had been longing for, He had a brilliant idea.  First, let me say that he is the mastermind behind this entire DIY and he is a freaking GENIUS!!!!!

So, He looks at the photo, and I tell him how much something like this would cost and he, like me and the rest of you probably did, GASPED!!!!! "I know, I know....it's a lot of money" I said to him, "but I really would love to have this one day."  Little did I know, he already had his creative gears turning.  He told me that he could make something like this cheaper.  I was all for it at this point.  So he got on craigslist and found a craftsman toolbox in the standard old red color that they come in.  I think he spent about $20 bucks on it.  So we went and picked up the toolbox and went to Home Depot and got some fluorescent pink spray paint and white primer.  My husband attempted to paint it hot pink for me but it turned out kind of an orange color so we were a little disappointed and gave up for a little while.  It sat in our garage for months before we actually did anything with it.

Once we saw the orange color turn out, I was like, "I don't have to have a pink one, we can make it any color we want."  So we thought about it and I decided that I wanted to paint it purple and he suggested black drawers which I attested to at first, but finally agreed (and I'm glad I did.)

Finally, after of months of it sitting in our garage, I went to Home Depot and picked out my paint which only cost me about $18 dollars and after that, it was go time.  I pulled the toolbox out of the garage, washed the dust and cobwebs off of it (yuck) dried it off and went to town painting.  Mind you, this is the first thing I have ever spray painted in my entire life, so I had no clue what I was doing.  After what seemed like hours, (was really only about an hour and a half) I finally finished painting my toolbox and I let it sit out in the sun and dry.  After about forty five minutes or so, the paint was completely dry so I put the drawers back in and wheeled that bad boy into our house.  I COULD NOT wait to fill it with all my hair and make-up products.

In conclusion, the original Pink Box is super beautiful but so expensive, so if you're like me and really want one but don't want to spend that kind of money on one, a good'ole Do It Yourselfer is the way to go.  You can find a cheaper toolbox on craigslist or even at places like Home Depot or Lowe's sells smaller toolboxes like the one you'll need for pretty decent prices.  All you gotta do is pick what color you want yours, get the spray paint and get busy creating your beautiful new make-up toolbox that will make everyone around you super jealous (trust me on that one...hahaha) and for a little less that $40 dollars, you will have yourself a beautiful brand new make-up toolbox just like the Original Pink Box without that super expensive tag attached to it.

The coolest thing happened to me!

Hello Everybody,

Okay, so this is a bit of a different blog I'm posting for you all today.  So most of you don't know that I watch the beauty community on YouTube a lot.  It's my favorite thing to do in my spare time (besides blogging, of course ;))  but one of my favorite beauty guru's Ciaoobelllaxo has a beauty channel and a vlog channel and I always like watching her videos.  She recently posted a video on her vlog channel talking about how she was moving and she brought the camera along while walking through her new house and so I took to Twitter and tweeted how I loved her new house and couldn't wait for a full house tour.

About half an hour later, my phone goes off letting me know that I have a notification from my twitter account.  So like any other normal person would do, I open the notification to find that Ciaoobelllaxo has retweeted my tweet.  Now, some of you will never understand the excitement that I felt at that moment, and that's okay, but for those of you who do understand how I felt, you will know that it was so awesome to know that someone who is basically YouTube famous, actually seen your tweets and takes the time to retweet it.  It is one of the coolest feelings ever.

Everyone should go and check out her chanel.  She is an awesome cosmetologist.  I always find myself going to her channel for tips and tricks for hair and makeup.

Anyways, sorry if this seems like a nerdy kind of blog, but I just had to share it and I hope you all enjoyed my fangirl moment!!!!!!

Motivational Monday!!!

Hello Everybody,

It's motivational Monday and I'm going to share with you all what is motivating me.  My kids have always been my number 1 motivator.  If it weren't for them, I don't know what I would do in my life.  They are my world and I would do anything possible and necessary for my children.  They are really great kids, and they keep me going. (Literally going!)  They are the reason I get out of bed everyday.  I want them to know what it's like to grow up with structure and kindness.  I want them to be gentlemen but also be manly men.  They will know how to treat women right.  They will be respectful to all things, no matter what it is.

My kids are my world and without them, I don't know who I would be.  Sometimes I sit and think about my life before I had children, and of course I had a lot more fun in the partying sense but those days are long gone for me and I am truly okay with that.  I would much rather sit at home and watch an animated movie with my kids that go out to some bar and get plastered and stroll in at the crack of why am I awake?  (haha)  I don't want to miss a single thing while my kids are growing up.

I'm not passing any judgement here but I have never understood some parents who would much rather go out with their friends, than spend quality time with their children.  I mean, don't get me wrong, It's nice to get away for one night every once in a while, but to go out and party every single night is not something I would even consider now that I am a mother.  I just don't have the heart to do it.  I would feel so guilty for leaving my children at home with some babysitter when I should be the one at home taking care of them.

Having children has changed my life in so many ways.  All of them in good ways and I am so thankful for my children and I would never change anything about them.  They are perfect in my eyes and I am blessed to be able to call myself their mother.  <3

Fourth of July fun with the Family!

Hello everybody,

We had to celebrate the fourth of July yesterday in our family because I had to work today :(
Stinks I know but, you gotta do what you gotta do...Right?  My husband and I and the baby went to a festival near our hometown and had a lot of fun.  I wish Jordon would have gotten to come along with us but he is at his dads house for the summer.  I know he would have had a blast!

Anyways, I tried my best to get some good footage of the firework show.  I didn't film it all but what I got was pretty good and I also got some photos so I hope you enjoy them!!!

Homemade Bleu Cheese Dressing

Hello Everybody!!!!

I'm back today with another recipe blog for you all.  This one comes from my husband's book of recipes that he has happily shared with me.  Last time I gave you the recipe to make your own ranch dressing so today i'm going to continue with that same pattern and tell you how to make your own bleu cheese dressing.

This one is a little easier and has fewer ingredients in it.

Ingredients:
  • 1/3 cup mayonnase
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1tbs lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup bleu cheese
  • Stir in milk to right consistency (depends on how you like it)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and voila...you have your very own homemade bleu cheese dressing.  Be sure to mix it up before each use.

Hope you all like the recipe. Feel free to leave me feedback in the comments!!!
